Hi All.  I like the belief that God answers prayers like this:  “Yes”, “Not Yet”, or “I Have Something Better Planned”.

Brett Johnston, who has attended several SandBlasts with us, was called to Heaven on March 5th, 2009 at a very young age.  I will forever wish that I had opportunity to know him better, and in the conversations that I did have with him, he left an impression of a caring, smiling, happy and confident young man, always willing to help.  I think this time God answered “I have something better planned” as hard as that may be for all of us to accept.

“Death is nothing at all.  I have only slipped away into the next room.  Whatever we were to each other, we are still.  Call me by my old familiar name – Brett, Brettski, Br3tt – speak to me in the easy way in which you always used to.  Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.  Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.  Let my name be the household word that it always was:  let it be spoken without effort.  Life means all that it ever meant.  It is the same as it ever was, there is absolute unbroken continuity.  Why should I be out of your mind because I am out of your sight?  I am but waiting for you, for an interval somewhere very near just around the corner.  All is well, nothing is past; nothing is lost.  One brief moment and all will be as it was before – only better, infinitely happier and forever we will all be together with Christ.”

Hey Brett, keep us safe on these sand dunes if you can?  We will miss you.
