Other Information:
Firewood: Due to the "Emerald Ash Borer" problem in south east Michigan, there is a restriction on taking firewood with you from this area. Firewood is available locally around Silver Lake. We may have an opportunity to obtain a load of slab wood, which should be enough for everyone the entire weekend. The cost can be split, ($5.00 - $10.00 per campsite) check back here for an update when we have more information.
You will need a state park sticker, (daily or annual) to get into either the Silver Lake State Park Campground, or the Silver Lake Sand Dunes. These can be purchased at the campground or the dunes.
You will need an ORV sticker for any and all vehicles entering the Silver Lake Sand Dunes.
You will need a 10' flag mounted on the front of your vehicle. (They can be on the rear for quads and dirt bikes). The flag must be stiff enough to maintain 10' while driving in the dunes. These are available in the Silver Lake area at several places. A bracket will be needed to accept a ½ inch diameter stud or bolt which is on the bottom of the flags. Prepare the bracket before going and mount it to your vehicle, then purchase the flag in the Silver Lake area.
You will need helmets for rear-seated passengers in vehicles with a partial fiberglass roof such as the full-size Bronco. Rear-seated passengers are also required to wear helmets in older Jeeps where the roll bar does not extend over the rear seat. Occupants in vehicles with a steel roof, (such as a pickup truck, an SUV, etc.) are not required to wear a helmet regardless of the presence of a roll bar.
