Most campers attending the 14th Annual SandBlast 2009 will be staying at the Silver Lake State Park Campground. We usually try to reserve an entire "block" of campsites so we won't disturb other campers during our stay. A campground map can be viewed by going to the DNR website by clicking here.
Cellular reception has recently improved in the campground with a new cell tower being added nearby making communication much easier than in the past.
Although SandBlast is usually a three day event, (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), some may arrive earlier, or stay longer. Arriving early on Thursday, and going home on Tuesday can make for a more relaxing trip. Check with others as to their plans.
Other than camping, there are some that stay at the Silver Sands Resort, the Dunes Waterfront Resort, and sometimes the Sierra Sands lodge. The Silver Sands Resort and the Dunes Waterfront Resort are about 1/2 mile away from the campground. The Sierra Sands is a little farther. Your choices are wide open and up to you. See the "Lodging Suggestions" page for more information on camping and lodging.
Our SandBlast trips are very informal and do not have an "official agenda". However, for an idea on how the weekend usually progresses, see the "Unofficial Agenda" page. The trip has worked well in the past this way, but we are always open for suggestions. The idea is for everyone to enjoy the weekend however they choose.
The trip is family oriented, so bring your kids if you have 'em, but don't hesitate to just come yourself. If you have any questions about some of the recommended lodging, restaurants or local points of interest, feel free to ask the "host" or someone who has "been-there-done-that".
